Grade 6 High School Transition Program
Our Grade 6 High School Transition Program equips students for academic, social, and emotional success as they prepare to enter High School. Our guided approach is designed to:
By nurturing independence, fostering positive relationships, and instilling confidence and ownership in their educational trajectory, our Grade 6 students are empowered to seamlessly adapt to Grade 7 and thrive in their new environment.
Students spend one day per week at the High School where they integrate academically, socially, and emotionally over the course of the year. This is an opportunity to become familiar with High School teachers, routines, and facilities such as our state-of-the-art theatre, robotics workshop, and fitness center, all of which support a smooth transition to Grade 7.
With the guidance of their Grade 6 teacher, a typical day will include:
- Attending classes at the High School
- Taking part in the High School Advisor Program
- Mentorship with Big Brothers/Big Sisters
- Connecting with junior and senior students
- Participating in co-curricular activities with High School teachers, and students
