Performing Arts & Sport Etudes Program

sportseduteSt. George’s Performing Arts/Sport Etudes Program is designed as an extension of our child-centered philosophy and aims at supporting each student individually through their unique schedules and challenges. The Program recognizes the talent and the perseverance of the students who already perform in the arts or compete at a high level in a sport and are willing to pursue concurrently an elementary or high school experience that prepares them for a challenging post secondary education.

Admission Criteria:
All students interested in applying to the St. George’s Performing Arts/Sport Etudes Program must demonstrate the following:
• Be enrolled in a competitive sport and be a member of a recognized Sport Federation, or be involved in a performing arts activity in an aspiring professional capacity
• Successfully complete the St. George’s admission process which includes the submission of an application, completion of an entrance exam and an interview
• Maintain a successful academic and social standing throughout the academic year at St. George’s

Schedule and Program:
Students admitted to the Performing Arts/Sport Etudes Program will have an equivalent course load to a regular student when possible and will be integrated into the school’s regular programs. Depending on the student’s performance or the competition and training  schedule, some modifications can be made to the number of option courses taken in order  to fulfill the requirements of all compulsory courses.

The St. George’s Performing Arts/Sport Etudes Program respects the pedagogical expectations established by MELS.

Support Structure:
In addition to the regular day to day advisor’s monitoring, each student involved in the Performing Arts/Sport Etudes Program will have the guidance of a Student Support teacher who will be responsible for the coordination of  the program of study and  schedule tutoring when required. The Student Support teacher will  meet regularly with the student and his family, provide feedback from the teachers and communicate and  plan for the success for the student.
