Broad Minds, Bright Futures

St. George’s School of Montreal was the brainchild of accomplished and visionary parents and educators determined to provide innovative and progressive education for their own children. In 1929, one of our school’s original founders, Gerald Birks, wrote that we should “enable the child to acquire through the tools of learning rather than to merely acquire facts”. Over three quarters of a century later, St. George’s School of Montreal still embraces the “learning comes from doing” philosophy adopted since its inception and continues to be recognized internationally as a centre for progressive learning.

Here, our unique, whole-child approach supports a rigorous response to teaching and learning, and inspires impressive academic success as measured by independent indicators. St. George’s School promotes cooperative attitudes and behavior through its character education program, and fosters an environment in which these are harmoniously integrated within the pursuit of individual excellence.

The desired outcome of a St. George’s School’s education is the emergence of a scholastically-enriched, self-disciplined and independent learner, a caring and sensitive individual in tune with the challenges of living in an increasingly complex society, and one who is well prepared to meet the rigour of the most demanding post-secondary experiences.
